This Week In Chart View 'Susan Boyle'

New Queen Of The Charts?

Susan Boyle has a new reason to celebrate her odd new success. The Britain's Got Talent star will debut on Billboard Top 200 album charts selling over 320k in her first week. How is that history you may ask? Well Susan will have the biggest first week opening of a Christmas album...ever. Her last CD I Dream A Dream (November 2009), sold over 700k in its first week, going on to sell over 3 million copies in the U.S alone.

Why is Susan having so much success? Other than the sympathy card, many music observers feel the Adult Contemporary crowd has been ignored and fed up with music these past few years, so once an act or an artist comes along and give them the music they desire, they go out and buy. Those numbers could end up in droves, at least that seems the case with Susan Boyle. Josh Groban, Andre Bocelli are other acts who has benefited from this crowd of music buyers.

As for the rest of the chart this week, troubled star Kid Kudi will make his debut in at #2, while "the million in one week" Taylor Swift holds the #3 spot. Mariah Carey takes a hard fall to #14 after a disappointing opening last week, and legend rock group Bon Jovi rounds out the top 5 with their Greates Hits album. The official chart stats from Billboard.com will be out on Thursday. Here is the rest of HitsDailyDouble prediction chart:

Diva78 Soundoff:

****Susan Boyle-I was reading up on another forum where it seems more conservative-older people post, and these ppl really like Susan Boyle. I think Susan has a consistent buying audience if her team continues to cater to their liking. She has the AC audience on lock, and she can continue to sell as consistent as a Josh Groban or a Andre Bocelli. Her numbers may not always be huge like "700k in one week", but she can sell well and go for the long-haul (selling consistently over a period of time), as opposed to today's artists who want big numbers today, and album gone tomorrow. Susan's target audience does not illegally download and they buy in bulk giving CDs to friends of friends of friends, and it becomes a chain reaction.****

According to Billboard.com Susan on trail to sell over 300k next week...again
It will be amazing to see how Susan will fair during Black Friday Weekend, a week many albums see a spike in sales
.
Up next week, Kanye West and Niki Minaj will face-off with their new releases. Stay tuned....

Will Susan Boyle's hype last?
Yes
No
Maybe
Don't really care
