Larry Jackson Leaving Arista/J-Records

EXIT AT ARISTA: One of Clive Davis’ longtime talent execs has left the building. Arista Records President A&R and RCA Music Group EVP A&R Larry Jackson has reportedly ankled the label, Jackson was promoted to the post in Oct. 2009, reporting to RCA/Jive Label Group Chairman/CEO Barry Weiss. Jackson first joined J Records upon its inception in 2000, handling the A&R process for multi-platinum artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis, Whitney Houston and Monica. Before joining J, he was the MD and an on-air personality at San Francisco ’s KMEL, where he began his career as an intern.

We can only wonder what this will mean for our dear Whitney. It is not like Larry has done a whole lot to see that Whitney or any other Arista act, get the best promotion or the best marketing for their music. We wish Mr Jackson much success in his future endeavors, we just hope now Arista will bring aboard someone who will get the job done. Salute

Whitney Houston's "Worth It' submitted for "Record Of The Year" Grammy

Worth It is one of the fan-favorite tunes off of Whitney's platinum selling CD,I Look To You. As I was taking a look on the Grammy Submission's List, I noticed I saw Worth It was submitted for Grammy Record Of The Year and Best R&B Female Vocal Performance. It came as a bit of shock to some fans, because radio seemed to have abandoned Whitney, and female artists over the age of 40, period.
It is not likely that Worth It would be nominated for ROTY, for nominations of that particular category are determined on radio-play  (which Whitney did not get much of outside of  Urban AC). It would be nice if she did get the nod for Female R&B Vocal Performance though, which isn't much out of reach to garner a nomination.

Nomination Submissions include;

Worth It for Record Of The Year
Worth It for R&B Female Vocal Performance
Worth It Best R&B Song
Million Dollar Bill Best Short Form Music Video

Last year the Grammys snubbed Whitney in such a huge way. Nothing on her album was nominated for a Grammy. However, she did receive a high honor, The International Artist Of The Year Award, by The American Music Awards, where she gave a stellar performance of I Didn't Know My Own Strength She also received a high honor from BET where they honored her for her artistry for the past 25 years, and the World Wide success of her album I Look To You which sold 2.5 million copies WW.
We look forward to the rest of this year for Ms. Houston, she has a US tour coming forth, two new films, and new music. So Excited!!!
